Construction – Bricklaying and Carpentry

The construction industry accounts for approximately 3 million jobs which is 10% of total UK employment.

Construction jobs involve more than just what you see on a building site and there is a huge range of career choices in the industry. These include designing, planning and project management, as well as doing the hands-on practical work.

The average salary for a construction worker is £41,052 per year in the UK. The Federation of Master Builders (FMB) has found that construction companies have been struggling to recruit skilled tradespeople, such as bricklayers, carpenters, plumbers and electricians and as a result of this skills gap, the FMB said that wages are rising sharply for these skilled trades, so this is a great reason to become an expert within this industry as you and your skills will be in demand.
