English and Maths

Having good maths and English skills can improve further study and job opportunities, income and mental health.

Everyone uses maths and English in their everyday lives and importantly, most jobs require us to have these skills to a good level!

Maths & English

Countless studies have shown GCSE results in maths and English have a big impact on future earnings.

Individuals who achieve GCSEs, including maths and English, earn on average, up to £100,000 more over a lifetime (or £2500 a year), compared to those with below level 2 or no qualifications. Putting this into perspective, your yearly family holidays, car payments or bills are covered, just for having passed English and maths.

Multiply your maths skills

Multiply is a new government funded programme designed to help adults to improve their maths skills. Courses as part of the programme are free for adults aged 19+ who don’t have a GCSE grade C/4 in maths.

Having good maths skills can help to unlock job opportunities and lead to higher wages as well as helping in everyday life, for example budgeting your money or helping children with homework.

You can choose to study online, at college or at our local children’s centres.
