Remembrance Day ceremonies at South Staffordshire College
November 2022
Today, staff and students at South Staffordshire College have joined the nation in commemorating Armistice Day.
Learners from our public services course led a parade at both Tamworth College and Cannock College to recognise the occasion. Staff and students from the wider college community joined them in a two-minute silence at the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month via live video stream from our other college campuses (Rodbaston, Torc and Lichfield).
The Last Post was played note and we had readings from Jess Aydin at Cannock College and Jack Rowland at Tamworth. Tom Bamber was the standard bearer at Cannock College and Matt Cooper at Tamworth College. Bradley Wilkes had the honour of laying a wreath in Cannock town centre to pay respects on behalf of everyone at the college.
Public Services tutor, Ian Pringle said “Remembrance Day is a very important day for me personally as Forces Veteran but also for our public service students and wider college. I am hugely proud of our students and the commitment they have shown on the day to mark Remembrance Day. Thank you to the wider college community for the respect shown”.
