  • Is this course for you?

The BS 7671 is the British Standard for wiring regulations for low voltage systems in the UK. Although it is not a statutory document, every electrician or domestic installer will have to, by law demonstrate that they comply with a number of legislative documents.

Even if you have completed a level 3 NVQ or a previous version of the wiring regulations, you still will have to prove you are conversant with the current standards. So therefore, keeping up to date with the latest wiring regulations satisfies these requirements.

Although the BS 7671 can be a hard book to navigate, our course has been designed in such a way as to ensure that you will have the knowledge to identify and find the topics covered in each of the relevant parts of the book. The course will run over 10 weeks on one evening per week, you will gain a good understanding of the key regulations in each part and also how to navigate your way around the book for the others.

  • Required qualifications

This course is suitable for people working in the electrotechnical industry and having completed their 17th edition training prior to 3rd Amendment 2015. There are no formal entry requirements to attend this course however candidates should have a basic knowledge and understanding of electrical science and the principles of electrical installation work.

  • What skills will I develop?

The course is designed to bring you up to speed with all the latest 18th Edition wiring regulations including all the latest amendments. You will learn all the key regulations that you will find in day to day installations, as well as understand how to reference your ‘regs’ book for the more obscure ones.

The course then culminates in an open book multiple choice exam which allows 2 minutes to answer each question. This means you can take your copy of the BS7671 book into the exam and refer to it as and when required.

  • Careers

Successful candidates will hold the full qualification, be able to demonstrate a much better understanding of the 18th Edition of BS7671, and should be able to apply the understanding within their role.

  • Other important information

Exam: At the end of this course there will be a 2 hour examination. Please ensure you bring photographic ID and your copy of BS 7671:2018 with you. Failure to do so will prevent you from sitting this exam.
