Is this course for you?
Have you always wanted to work within the Health & Social Care sector? Been out of education for a while and considering going to University but lack the relevant qualifications! The Access to Higher Education qualification will support both the development of skills required in preparing to study at HE as well as developing subject knowledge.
The Access to HE Diploma (Health Professions) course at South Staffordshire College is a one year full-time programme (35 weeks), delivered across three full days. You may also be required to study maths or English in addition to the Access course which will add additional time to your timetable.
Many of our students progress from the course to continue their studies at University. Typical progression routes include Adult Nursing, Midwifery, Children’s Nursing, Learning Disabilities Nursing, ODP, Speech and Language Therapy, and many other related health care vocations. Students may also progress into subject degrees for example Biology and Psychology.
It is expected that you also spend at least 10 hours of private study outside of college hours as the course content is intense over a 35 week period. Depending on age and previous qualifications an advanced learner loan may need to be taken out in order to fund the course but as long as you complete the course and go to University the fees are waivered on university entry meaning that this course could cost you nothing.
