    Our Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy is a Technical Certificate qualification aimed at learners aged 16-19 who are in a full-time Level 2 education programme and wish to pursue a career as an employed and/or self-employed beauty therapist.

    This course gives you the opportunity to learn new skills as you embark on your journey into the prestigious world of Beauty Therapy.

    As a trainee therapist, you will learn in a training salon furnished with industry standard equipment and working reception. You will be introduced to the profession through practical demonstrations of key treatments, such as manicure, pedicure, facials and eye treatments. Once you are proficient in these treatments, the salon will welcome paying clients for you to build a clientele and hone your interpersonal skills. Level 2 Beauty Therapy will give you the skills to build your own business as a mobile therapist, or to work in a reputable high-street salon. You could also progress onto Level 3 where you will have the chance to work in luxury spas or resorts.

  • Required qualifications

    You will need to have three GCSEs at Grade 4 (C Grade), including maths or English or have completed the Level 1 Beauty Therapy.

    If you do not have Grade 4 in maths or English, you will be required to complete this qualification at college alongside your vocational course.

    You will be an enthusiastic and dedicated learner who is passionate about the industry, and willing to learn and try new skills.

  • What skills will I develop?

    By completing this qualification, you will become a skilled beauty therapist, offering treatments including: manicure, pedicure, makeup, facials, nail art, waxing an eye treatments. Your essential knowledge will include client care, health and safety and anatomy and physiology. You will learn through a variety of assessments, including practical and written where you will receive feedback from both your peers and your tutors. You will be assessed through external exams, graded practical assessment and synoptic assessments.

  • Work experience

    Work experience is a compulsory aspect of the course. This is designed to harmonise the theory you will learn in class and the real-world applications of the course. Through work experience, you will learn valuable skills, such as interpersonal skills, independence, confidence and commercial awareness. Work experience will also improve your career prospects as many Level 2 students have secured permanent work or apprenticeship offers through their work experience partnerships with salons.

  • English and maths

    English and maths qualifications are an integral part of the working world and will help you prosper. If you do have English or maths qualification at Grade 4 (Grade C) then the college is here to help. You will be asked to attend classes where you will be assisted through the qualification, completing the GSCE exam at the end of the academic year.

    Within our Level 2 qualification, development of maths and English will be embedded into each of the sessions and will help to develop your confidence in dealing with a number of core skills, such as; costs of treatments, effective communication with clients, timings for treatments and taking bookings.

  • Other important information

    When you begin your journey as a trainee beauty therapist, you will be expected to wear a uniform and purchase a kit which will become your tools to your success. You can receive information and prices of these from the Learner Services Team on request. The college endeavours to provide its students with the best experience during their qualification, thus additional trips will be a part of the college calendar. These will also require additional costs, however the college is here to assist with bursaries which can discussed further at interview. The college expects all learner to arrive to every class with all required equipment, uniform and a determination to work.
