Is this course for you?
This course will provide you with an in-depth understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children and young people in school and college environments. It covers all aspects of specialist support including planning, delivering and reviewing assessment strategies to support learning alongside the teacher; bilingual support; special needs support; and personal development and reflective practice.
This course is intended for those employed in a teaching assistant or equivalent role and also provides progression from the level 2 course. It is an expectation that you will have hands-on experience of working in this type of setting.
You will cover topics such as Safeguarding, communication, supporting with Maths, Literacy and ICT and supporting bilingual and SEN learners.
You will attend college for one day a week with the course delivered by experienced and knowledgeable staff who have themselves worked in this role. You will carry out your own reading and research and have work to complete out of college hours.
You will be observed in your placement by an experienced assessor.
