Essential Digital Skills – Entry Level 3 (Daytime Class)

  • Is this course for you?

    This course is specifically designed for adults to enable them to develop the digital skills and knowledge needed to benefit them in their personal lives and support them in their career aspirations. These qualifications are suitable for all ages and support the development of key digital skills such as using devices, creating and editing digital media, using technology to communicate, buying and transacting online, and how to stay safe and secure when using technology.

    Essential Digital Skills qualifications (EDSQs) will be automatically funded for adults (16-19 and 19+ employed or unemployed) who do not have the basic digital skills they need for life and work.

    No previous formal qualifications are required for entry to these qualifications.  You will be assessed by completing a scenario task-based assessment, answer some questions and be observed using devices.

    This is the entry level 3 (introduction) qualification – it is advisable before starting the course to talk to your tutor to make sure that this is the right level for yourself.

  • Required qualifications

    Learners with no or low digital skills will benefit from accessing a fully funded and up-to-date qualification that reflects the evolving digital landscape.

  • What skills will I develop?

    The Essential Digital Skills standards are:

    • Using devices and handling information
    • Creating and editing
    • Communicating
    • Transacting
    • Being safe and responsible online
  • Careers

    This course will give you the confidence to be able to use digital devices, therefore, if you are seeking employment, you will be able to apply and communicate online, search for jobs and understand how to use filters to find exactly what you are looking for!

    You could also progress onto one of our other digital courses.

  • English and maths

    English: Learners will develop verbal communication skills through class activities and discussions. Their spelling and grammar will be met through completion of exercises.

    Maths: Learners will develop confidence in maths through creating and editing in programmes such as Excel.

  • Other important information

    This is a short course (3 hours a week) running over seven weeks (taking into consideration holidays) with a total of 21 hours’ worth of face to face teaching time.

    It is expected, if needed that learners will work on tasks and assignments in their own time to assist in putting together the learning objectives for this course.

    This course has a formal qualification attached to it at an entry level and students completing the course are expected to take the qualification which comes in the form of a written test under assessment conditions.

    The tutor for this course will explain the scope of this assessment in class and provide you with time to prepare and guidance.

    This in an entry level qualification.

    The assessment for this module will be at the E3 (Entry) level. If there is a requirement to do the L1 then please inform the tutor who can guide you onto getting this qualification.
