  • Is this course for you?

    You need to have some knowledge of basic grammar such as adjectival agreement, likes and dislikes, word order, present tense and basic oral practice on topics such as family, directions, food and drink and travel.

  • Required qualifications

    No formal qualifications are needed but ideally, a 1 year beginners’ course or having had exposure to the language by teaching yourself.

  • What skills will I develop?

    You will be able to acquire the four language skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing in French that would enable you to communicate effectively with native speakers.

  • Careers

    After a year’s tuition, progression to the Conversation class.

  • English and maths

    Students benefit from acquiring a good understanding of basic English grammar through French grammar.

    The ability to use numbers is very important to everyone, in any language, in all sorts of situations. like asking the time, purchasing food and drink, enquiring about arriving and leaving times of transport, adding and subtracting to find the value of something, etc.

  • Other important information

    This course runs for 3 terms of 10 weeks each, usually starting in September. You will need access to a dictionary, hard copy or digital and a lever arch file for work done in class or at home.

    You have to be 19 years and above to join this course.
