  • Is this course for you?

    The internal quality assurance (IQA) award is designed for those working in, or looking to gain entry to roles in quality assurance. This is a replacement for the V1 internal verifiers award.

    The qualification will provide people who carry out quality assurance in their organisation with the opportunity to develop and improve their practice as well as achieve a professional qualification specific to their role.

    We offer: Award in the internal quality assurance of assessment processes – Level 4

    This is for those who internally quality assure assessors and assessment practices

  • Required qualifications

    It is expected that you hold an assessor qualification or have substantial experience of working in an assessor role.  

    You must have access to a minimum of 2 assessors in the workplace for you to undertake quality assurance with 

  • What skills will I develop?

    The course is mainly delivered on an individual basis meaning that you will have 1:1 meetings with your tutor at the college to support development of the underpinning knowledge for the qualification and also to develop and assess practical skills required to be an internal quality assurer.
    You will cover the following whilst on the course:

    • Roles and responsibilities of the internal quality assurer
    • How to plan internal quality assurance activities including producing sampling plans
    • Carrying out internal quality assurance responsibilities including standardisation activities and sampling assessment decisions
    • Supporting assessors and providing feedback
    • Completing IQA paperwork and liaising with external bodies

  • Careers

    The course is designed to provide you with the recognised qualifications to internally quality assure assessment decisions. Career opportunities include:

    • Internal quality assurer
    • Internal verifier
    • Internal moderator

    Following completion of this qualification you could progress to teaching/training qualifications:

    • Award in education and training – Level 3
    • Certificate in education (PCET)

  • Work experience

    To complete the practical unit of the qualification you must have access to 2 assessors to complete the internal quality assurance process with.
