  • Required qualifications

    For this qualification applicants will need a 1 x grade 3 (or equivalent) and 1 x grade 2 (or equivalent) in maths and English

    Applicants who hold other construction qualifications will be considered on an individual basis

  • What skills will I develop?

    As a property maintenance student, you will develop practical skills with underpinning knowledge in a variety of topics. You can expect to study the following units

    • Health, safety and welfare in construction
    • Introduction to the construction industry
    • Bricklaying
    • Cavity walling
    • Block walling
    • Brick walling
    • Carpentry and Joinery
    • Woodworking joints
    • Framing
    • Locks and latches
    • Skirting board and architrave
    • Other basic property maintenance related activities including wiring plugs etc.
  • Careers

    Completion of the level 1 will open the door to complete a level 2 qualification in property maintenance or explore the other trades if you find one of these of particular interest and wish to pursue a specialism.

    You could also consider for applying for an apprenticeship with several housing associations keep your eyes out for opportunities
