    The Technical Qualification is primarily aimed students who wish to progress into the health sector and will equip you with the knowledge, skills and behaviours you need to enter skilled employment, by combining learning in the classroom with vital experience with health professionals

    To achieve this qualification, you must successfully demonstrate achievement of the core component and one occupational specialism component, Supporting the Adult Nursing Team.

    This T Level course will help you boost your employment prospects by gaining extensive experience on a work placement in a real-world environment. The course carries a maximum of 168 (Distinction*) UCAS points.

  • Required qualifications

    You will need five GCSEs in the 9 to 4 range including a grade 5 in English, maths and science, and a keen interest in the topic.

  • What skills will I develop?

    Year 1 is made up of three key parts:

    1. Core: Knowledge and understanding of contexts, concepts, and theories of the health industry:

    • Working within the health and science sector
    • Health, Safety and Environmental regulations in the
    • Health and Science sector
    • Managing information and data within the Health and Science sector
    • Good Scientific and Clinical Practice
    • Core Science concepts
    • The Healthcare Science sector
    • Providing Person Centred Care
    • Health and wellbeing
    • Further Science concepts
    • Health and Safety regulations applicable in the Healthcare sector
    • Infection prevention and control in health specific settings
    • Managing personal information
    • English, Maths and digital skills needed in the health sector

    2. Employer Set Project: A project set by health specialists that requires you to apply your knowledge to a real-life problem in the industry.

    3. Industry Placement: You will get the opportunity to put the knowledge and skills you have learned in to action as you start your industry placement. You will work with an external health provider to apply your knowledge and develop your technical skills in a real-life health setting.

    Year 2 is made up of two key parts:

    1. You will specialise in Supporting the Adult Nursing Team; where you will study and practice how to:

    Assist with an individual’s overall care and needs to ensure comfort and wellbeing

    Assist registered health professionals with clinical or therapeutic tasks and interventions

    Undertake a range of physiological measurements

    Assist the adult nursing team with clinical tasks

    Support individuals to meet Activities of Daily Living

    Assist with skin integrity assessments and with the care and treatment of skin conditions

    Employer Set Project: A project set by early years employers that requires you to apply your knowledge to a real-life problem in the industry.

    Across year one and two, you will complete at least 45 days in total working in the health sector, giving you valuable experience in the workplace and employers the chance to see the new talent in their industry.

  • Careers

    T Levels offer many opportunities for progression:

    Progress to University: You can use the UCAS points you achieve to continue your studies at university.

    Enter Employment: You can use the skills, knowledge and experience you have gained to start working in the Health industry.

    Apprenticeship: There are many opportunities offered through higher level apprenticeships that allow you to carry on learning

  • Work experience

    As part of your T Level, you will complete an in-depth industry placement with an employer focused on developing your practical and technical skills. The placement will last a minimum of 45 days, but can last longer.

    Your placement will be completed around you course.  You will get a valuable experience in the workplace and employers get early sight of the new talent in their industry.

    We will support employers offering industry placements. This will include assistance with paperwork, a careful planning process and support with designing the industry placement.

  • English and maths

    English, maths, and digital skills are embedded throughout the course content. Employability and study skills are taught alongside the core content.

  • Other important information

    All students working with vulnerable people will need to have a Disclosure and Barring Security Check.

    You will require a uniform for work placement and in the College Care Academy, at an additional cost along with educational resources as required.
